I hadn't expected it to be different in your lands but it's disappointing all the same.
A cultivation sect. They are the groups who train people in the cultivation powers we have, which let us do things like flying on swords or using flute music to appease restless ghosts. The founder's own clan inherits leadership among their own line over the generations. In the end, it's not very different from your lords, I guess. Some of them rule like kings while others only see their sects as monster hunters. My sect's leader considered himself an emperor. The others disagreed.
Little sad but where there's injustice, there's always people who will raise against it too. So can see both the worst and best of people the closer you get to the top.
That does sound a bit like what the witches do in Aretuza, it's a magical academy. But flying on swords? That's new. How does it work? Do you need to throw the sword and then jump into it? Don't people cut themselves? Oh, I can tell now that there were troubles with your sect leader. Are you safe, though? These sort of messes always end with innocent people suffering.
Many innocents paid with their lives, yes. The victors weren't any kinder to us than our people had been to them. In the end, our survivors realized we had to leave and start over in faraway places. There is nothing left for us at home, and staying would have only doomed us and everyone who tried to protect us.

There's never victors in wars, only those who get to decide what's right or wrong once things end. And they're not always fair. Quite saddening, the world is a too harsh place. But I believe that gives us more reason to try and make it better.
I am. Due to my profession, I keep walking the continent and I prefer that over staying in one place bored out of my mind and letting the contempt about the problems of the world grow. I like to be when the adventure is, to meet new people, to understand their struggles. Staying idle is difficult for me.

I might be traveling constantly but I can understand that feeling. Being able to settle and not having to worry about those who care about getting in danger makes a big difference.

Yes. When we all scattered we couldn't travel together, we would have been too easily recognized together. Everybody knew we would never separate if we could help it.

That makes sense it does sound safer. Sorry that you had to part ways, though, that's never easy.
He can heard you from a distance? I know some witches in my world can talk with their thoughts and use that mind reading magic but it's not that common.
I'm not actually certain I will be able to call him. We never had the chance to test it, certainly not at such distance. But our friend could call him and I hope that I can do it, too, and that the distance doesn't matter when spiritual energy is involved.

There would be other ways to call him, too. We have ways of sending messages, I could use my powers on a bird and send it out. But calling him with the flute would be most reliable at such distance.
