[It is strange. Geralt doesn't make for polite company. He's perpetually in a bad or indifferent mood. He's not rich, he's only famous because Jaskier insists on running this unsponsored PR campaign, and his life is the unglorified, hardship side of adventure. Most people would have fucked off a long time ago now.
He'll miss him when he shuffles off this mortal coil, much as he thinks he won't.]
It doesn't feel that long. Nobody wants to know either of us anyway.
[ Jaskier wanted adventure in his life, and adventure he got Sure, Geralt wasn't the easiest person to deal with at times but neither was the bard. He knew that under those layers of indifference and grumpiness there was a caring man who had saved his life on many occasions. So he's not going to leave Geralt alone until the man chases him away. ]
Time flies when you're having fun, they say. And yet plenty of people knows us. Or rather, they've heard about you.
Look for a tall building with the sign 'The Rosebud' over the door. You can't miss it, Some of these very lovely ladies are curious about you already, I told them about your many feats. Not about the goriest bits, though, they're sensible.
[ In the meantime, he will wait for Geralt while chatting with said ladies and nursing a tankard of ale. ]
[That doesn't mean he's expecting any less of a hostile welcome when he sets foot in the building. Money is money and some wouldn't care, but he's come to expect to be turned away at every opportunity so he's never disappointed, only pleasantly surprised when he makes it to the counter without comment or incident.]
A beer. He's paying. [Geralt gestures towards where Jaskier is doing his best to bore scantily clad women to tears.]
[ This is a building that makes money out of entertaining patrons, they're inclined to be welcoming. Plus, Jaskier really had been saying nothing but praise about the witcher's adventures.
On his way to Jaskier's table, Geralt shouldn't be too surprised if some of the girls dancing around give him appreciative looks. The bard in the meantime, just waves goodbye to the one leaving his table to get back to work and then gives Geralt a smile. ]
Geralt! You did come. Has the sun turned black again and hell froze over?
[Geralt just grunts in response. You'd think a hundred years is plenty of time for a man to pick up some colourful, frilly additions to his vocabulary. Unfortunately he'd spent much of that time talking to a horse so as far as social interactions go, he still keeps to himself even with almost-naked bodies writhing next to them.]
I came to shut you up and spare these girls from your caterwauling. [There's no ire in his voice and no daggers in his eyes. Just the smallest of playful smiles as he stares into his mug and leans in again to drink another mouthful.]
How generous of you, coming to spare these ladies of the burden of my presence. [ There's no heat behind the words, by now the bard is used to their back and for banter. He likes having Geralt near if the relaxed body language he displays is any indication. ]
Would you like a private lapdance?
[ He's probably still talking about the girls but the cheeky grin Jaskier is giving Geralt could make anybody wonder ]
[He gives Jaskier a look. That lineface, unimpressed look.]
Would you like a private stabbing? [And he doesn't mean that in a sexual way. Geralt could make sure that sausage doesn't get buried in the seas of any more wrong skirts.]
I'll keep an eye out for your things. [Which is to say, Jaskier can wander off if he wants without lugging that useless lute around. Geralt will be the bored dad waiting at the exit of the Disneyland ride holding all the bags.]
Thanks, Geralt. [ He means that. The lute is the single most important thing he owns and Jaskier would hate to part ways with it, have it damaged or stolen. He doesn't move from the table, though. ]
I know you don't want a lapdance but there are other ways for you to relax here. [ The tone is less teasing now, much more honest. Caring. ]
That lovely lady over there, the brunette one...she plays Gwent better than anybody I've ever seen but she won't rob you blind if you want to play a few rounds with her. And Kalina...[ Jaskier points to a pretty blond woman chatting with a patron in a different table, almost as tall as Geralt. ] Gives some fantastic back massages. Strictly massages, promise.
[His eyes light up at the mention of Gwent and his expression starts to change, but he tries to regulate his expression and mask his interest by playing it cool and acting indifferent. His eyes flit over to the blond that piques his interest equally and he appears to be considering it seriously.]
...alright. Suppose I could try a round of Gwent. [Geralt rolls a shoulder and casts a glance over to the brunette.] Maybe I can pay for our night here. [Humblebrag? Geralt? Never.]
[ Taking another sip of his drip, Jaskier hides his smile behind the tankard. He saw that expression change but is choosing not to say anything as to not make Geralt close himself up like a clam again. ]
It couldn't hurt. [ It takes a few seconds but the brunette lady notices the stares and returns it with a small smile and a nod. She will approach them as soon as she's done talking to her actual client. ] Wouldn't that be nice? But the drinks are on me at lest. I've made plenty of coin in our last tavern because there was people there who could actually appreciate musical talents.
Talents. [Yeah, Geralt's not buying it. He gives Jaskier one of his looks before he turns his head again and casts his gaze over to the brunette. As soon as she starts to turn towards them he's back to staring down Jaskier.]
I'll stay for a round. And then you can... continue charming them with your talents. [She'll likely be able to get him to stay longer than Jaskier can, whether Geralt likes it or not. He always starts these nights out with good intentions, but shit inevitably hits the fan in a rather spectacular way.]
Artistry. [ The bard remarks again, not giving a rat ass about the look. He's used to them. He meets the brunette and gives her a smile back, then it dawns on him. ]
Oh Elissa! That's her name. You know, just so you want to shout it at some point. She has many talents too, I've heard. [ Jaskier doesn't elaborate nor he keeps nagging Geralt more. ] Believe it or not, I'm happy simply talking to them, sometimes.
If you could stay happy talking to them you wouldn't need to drag me around. [Geralt flashes Jaskier a tight-lipped smile before following Elissa to another table, with fewer things on it so she can flirt shamelessly with lines like 'So I hear the Witcher plays Gwent'.
Said Witcher might end up playing other things too as long as Jaskier stays out of trouble tonight and the game is intense enough to forget the time.]

Kind of a long time to keep insisting that we don't know each other at least a little bit.

Not at the moment, no. Sharp things and me don't get along well. Witchers notwithstanding.
